| Welcome to Legacy Academy |
|
L egacy Academy is an accredited Texas charter school with teachers and administrators whom have been certified through the Texas Educational Agency (TEA), and is closely monitored by the TEA's Charter School Division. All our textbooks and class curriculum is based on Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Legacy Academy was granted a charter by the Texas Education Agency in 1999 and has been serving students in Kaufman county and surrounding areas since. Legacy Academy is driven by academic excellence providing students with smaller classroom environment to encourage success.
In 2005-06 Legacy Academy went through a revitalization when then Campus Director Michael Anderson was hired. He laid the foundation for success by changing the culture of the school and by hiring qualified educators to inspire the students he served. The result of this the students met the challenge by scoring an acceptable rating on the TAKS test for the first time. The school motto “Adapting to Change, Conquering Failures, Capturing Success” signifies the driving force of the administrators, teachers, students and parents. With the support of the Kaufman community and the surrounding areas we will continue to be a school for those who need us and students who have been left behind.
One of the major success factors of Legacy Academy is based on education. We take great pride in ensuring that our students benefit from our dedication to excellence, discipline, and knowledge. At Legacy, we believe real education occurs when one has developed a true desire to learn and wants to implement what has been learned through a productive and successful lifestyle. Legacy seeks to instill these ideals and focus these concepts in every aspect of our academic program.
The development of self-motivation, achievement, valuation, and accountability in classroom studies help push our students to understand how the application of what they learn can translate to real world interaction as an adult. With our supportive and caring staff, and our students' desire to succeed, they can begin to do their best in all aspects of life, including academics. With a staff of exceptional educators and an emphasis on core courses, students become motivated to excel and see academics as the key to a bright future. Legacy Academy is open to students in Dallas and surrounding communities, including Crandall, Forney, Kaufman, Mesquite, Seagoville, Scurry-Rosser, Terrell, and Wills Point. We are always in search of new students to join our Kaufman campus, so if you desire to break away from over-populated, under-staffed public schools and yearn for more personable classes and challenging assignments, then please contact us soon. "Empowering each student to achieve academic success!" Note: Credit completion is dependent on when the student enters the semester (how many days a student attends class during the semester) can affect the type of credit earned (core or elective). Please consult with a school counselor before admission to determine how or if this will affect your student. |
